The flow behaviour of plastics is determined through their viscosity. A differentiation is made between the melt viscosities (MVR / MFR) and the solution viscosities, often expressed in viscosity numbers (VZ, IV or VN). Both measurements depend on the chain lengths of the polymers and on the test conditions.

Therefore, the factory test certificates should always be enclosed for comparative tests. The procedures are also used for determination of the polymer degradation during the processing.

OMPG has spiral tools with different wall thicknesses for examining the influence of different additives on the flow path in injection moulding.
