Smells in the car impair the well-being of the occupants. This realisation has led the automobile manufacturers since the 70ies to develop different tests for assessing the emission behaviour of plastic components.
The most comprehensive standard of the VW Group is VW 50180 which also comprises the old Audi standard VW 50179.
The tests that are required most frequently are the odour test (VDA 270), the organic emission test (VDA 277) and the fogging test (DIN 75201). Additionally, the formaldehyde emission test (VDA 275) must be performed for special plastics, such as POM.
We perform emission tests in accordance with the standards of the automobile manufacturers VW, Audi, Skoda, Daimler, BMW, Opel, Volvo, Ford and Renault. We have access to the VolkswagenGroupSupply platform and are registered on the Audi list of emission testing laboratories.
